Acceptance of applications for a $ 500 scholarship | News, Sports, Jobs

The Newview Chapter of the WVU Community Educational Outreach Service will award a $ 500 scholarship to a deserving senior in Hancock County in 2022. Application is open to seniors at any of the county’s three high schools as well as individuals elderly who have been home-schooled.
According to CEOS President Becky Wiegers, the scholarship will be based on income, merit, and a written essay. Gross family income must be equal to or less than the Hancock County median family income (currently $ 46,000) and applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.5. The essay can be any length, as long as it is at least 500 words long, and must focus on volunteering and its impact on a community or, on a personal level, on the writer.
Applications can be obtained by calling the WVU Hancock County Extension Office in New Cumberland at 304-564-3805. They must be completed and returned to the office, along with supporting documents, no later than May 31.
