The wife of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was arrested on Christmas Eve on a domestic violence charge which the right-wing provocateur says stems from a “drug imbalance.”

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Erika Wulff Jones and jailed her in an Austin jail around 8:45 p.m. Friday. Prison records show the 43-year-old is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm to a family member and resistance to arrest, search or transport. She had not received a deposit on Saturday afternoon.

Alex Jones, an Austin resident and founder of right-wing media group Infowars, declined on Saturday to comment on whether he was injured or to elaborate on what happened beyond what he believed was related to the recent change in medication by his wife.

“It was a private family affair that happened on Christmas Eve,” Jones told The Associated Press in a brief interview. “I love my wife and I care about her and it seems to be kind of a drug imbalance.”

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a Christmas Day request for the report on Wulff Jones’ arrest and a spokeswoman said she could not provide more information. A lawyer for Wulff Jones did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Jones filed a lawsuit this week to block subpoenas issued to him by the House committee investigating the January 6 insurgency on the U.S. Capitol. Jones spoke at a rally in support of then-President Donald Trump that sparked the riot and his Infowars colleague Owen Shroyer was charged with related crimes in August. Shroyer said he was “innocent of the charges”.

Jones said his wife’s arrest “wasn’t about my politics” and “it wasn’t some sort of hateful personal thing or anything.”
