Auckland Park Preparatory School has invited its former pupil Shonisani Maivha after earning a bachelor’s degree and two honors in the National Senior Certificate exams for 2021 for a special assembly.

The school introduced her to her current learners for her relentless commitment to being the best she could be in her studies and her additional murals.

Shonisani was welcomed back to school and had a profound impact on all, sharing her story, both her struggles and achievements, and encouraging all girls to do their best.

She also thanked her former teachers for the wonderful foundation they provided for her journey through school and beyond. Shonisani said she experienced such love, care and an incredible sense of community at this special little school.

Shonisani attended school from grades 0-7 and was also a talented hockey player on the provincial team.

This earned her a sports scholarship from St Andrew’s School for Girls for her high school years.

She is also the daughter of one of the school’s service staff, Neslie Mahuma.

Principal Brenda Howden said, “This is an amazing achievement, and we are all so proud of our former student, Shoni. We wish Shoni the best as she pursues her new goals at the University of Pretoria.
