The first candidate has thrown his name in the hat for a soon-to-be-vacant position. After serving a single term as state representative for the 163rd district in the Georgia General Assembly, Derek Mallow is running for state senate. .Mallow announced Monday morning that he will run for the Georgia State Senate Second District seat currently held by Sen. Lester Jackson, who is stepping down to run for commissioner of labor. which is a sharp learner, quick study and I’ve really come out to show that I can get bills passed,” Mallow said. For now, Mallow is the only official candidate in the race, which will hold its primary on May 24.

SAVANNAH, Ga. —

The first candidate threw his name in the hat for a soon to be vacant position.

After serving a single term as state representative for the 163rd district in the Georgia General Assembly, Derek Mallow is running for state senate.

Mallow announced Monday morning that he would seek the Georgia State Senate Second District seat currently held by Sen. Lester Jackson, who is stepping down to run for commissioner of labor.

“As a freshman legislator, I demonstrated and exemplified as an individual who is a sharp learner, quick learner and really came out to show that I can pass bills,” Mallow said.

For now, Mallow is the only official candidate in the race, which will hold its primary on May 24.
