Herricks High School seniors win National Merit Scholarship – Williston
Herricks High School announced that Elders Kyle Pinzon and Rhea Rasquinha have been selected as recipients of the $ 2,500 National Merit Scholarship, sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
They each gained eligibility after being named National Merit Finalists this winter and were selected based on their academic records, dissertations, PSAT / NMSQT Selection Index scores, curriculum, written recommendations. , activities, leadership involvement and other factors determined by the national merit scholarship program. .
Rhea and Kyle are Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the Class of 2021, respectively, and both are award-winning science research students, AP Fellows with Distinction, Members of the National Honor Society, and leaders of their school.
Kyle is the school’s executive president, community club vice president, and an academic member of the Herricks Quiz Bowl, and has also contributed to the Freshmen Focus and Yearbook organizations as a co-chair alongside Rhea.
In addition, he is a talented varsity swimming and badminton athlete and musician with many accomplishments to his name.
Rhea is the vice-chair of the student government executive council and has held co-chair positions with the STEM Club, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Euro / Fed Challenge. She is the public relations / podcast writer for the Herricks Explore, Create, Share group and helped organize the Herricks Strong Community Support Initiative. She is also an accomplished cross country and track athlete as well as a musician.
