Six Huskers earn Scholar All-America honors
Three Nebraska swimmers and a trio of Husker divers have secured spots on the 2022 College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America announced by the CSCAA on Wednesday, June 29.
Autumn Haebig, a fifth-year senior from Grafton, Wisconsin, earned first-team Scholar All-America honors for the third time in her illustrious career. The two-time NCAA All-American and three-time CSCAA All-American earned her bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations from Nebraska in May 2022. She was the 2021 Big Ten champion in the 200 freestyle and closed out her career as a school record holder in the 100m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 500m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle.
Ella Stein, a second in 2021-22 for the Huskers, added second-team CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades. The publicity and public relations specialist from Hudson, Wis., was also a Big Ten Researcher Distinguished and an All-Big Ten Academic selection in 2022. Stein finished 14th in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the 2022 Big Ten Championships.
Real Freshman JoJo Randby added second-team CSCAA Scholar All-America honors for Husker swimmers. The Omaha graduate Marian earned two top-20 finishes in the breaststroke events at the 2022 Big Ten Championships while excelling in class as a human resource management specialist.
In the diving well, Sara Troyer captured his fourth spot on the CSCAA All-America Teams by earning second-team honors. The two-time CSCAA All-American from Goshen, Ind., earned her bachelor’s degree in Child, Youth, and Family Studies from Nebraska in December 2021.
Senior Hallie Romain added second-team CSCAA Scholar All-America honors for the first time in his career. The hotel, restaurant and tourism management specialist from Port Huron, Michigan qualified for the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships after finishing in the top 16 in the dive table. meter at the 2022 Big Ten Championships.
reagan hinze completed Nebraska’s roster of six Scholar CSCAA All-Americans in 2022 by earning second-team honors. The sophomore from Conroe, Texas, set career bests in the one-metre, three-metre and platform dives while earning his first career appearance at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships . The performing arts major is also a two-time All-Big Ten academic selection.
Overall, more than 1,200 male and female swimmers and divers have been named to All-America Scholar CSCAA teams in 2021-22. The award recognizes students who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. The first-team Scholar All-Americans competed in their respective national championship, while the second-team Scholar All-Americans achieved an NCAA B time standard or competed in a zone diving championship.
