Vandalized Ukrainian church in Chicago, camera shows suspect
A 20-year-old Illinois man is charged with vandalizing a Ukrainian church in Chicago, police told media.
It happened on the night of Saturday, March 12, a warden from the Holy Protection parish of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine told police, WGN reported.
At around 1 a.m., someone broke into the church in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Chicago police told WLS television.
Two windows were smashed and a man – later identified as 20-year-old Torribio Mora – climbed inside and robbed the place of worship, WFLD reported. Surveillance video shows Mora stealing several items from the church and fleeing.
He was arrested later that morning, media reported.
Mora was charged with property damage, trespass and burglary of a place of worship, which is a felony, according to WFLD.
