Washington football team DT Jonathan Allen hits teammate Daron Payne on the sidelines
Washington soccer team defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne had to be separated on the sidelines in Sunday night’s game against host Dallas Cowboys after Allen took a hit against his former teammate from Alabama.
The pair sat next to each other on the bench after a 75-yard run from Dallas early in the second quarter that resulted in the Cowboys’ third straight touchdown, giving them a 28- lead. 7.
TV cameras showed Payne and Allen talking to each other. Payne looked at Allen, who was looking straight ahead. Then Payne, now standing, stuck a finger in the side of Allen’s head. At this point Allen stood up, pushed Payne’s hand away with his left hand, and took a hit with his right – connecting lightly to the side of Payne’s face.

The players were then separated by three teammates, with lineman Sam Mills Jr. in the middle. Payne remained distraught as he sat on the bench, while Allen sat nearby. The players kept approaching Payne and trying to calm him down.
The two players were on the pitch side by side in the series that followed.
Washington entered the contest after losing two straight games.
