[WATCH] Seshego school closed after ‘strange’ student behavior

POLOKWANE – Makgofe Secondary School has been temporarily closed, departmental spokesman Tidimalo Chuene has confirmed.

A video has been released on social media platforms where learners can be seen passed out on the school premises.

Chuene confirmed the incident to Polokwane Review and said the school reported that 40 learners of varying grades displayed “strange behavior”.

“The school reported that the behavior of the learners did not resemble any physical illness. We still don’t know exactly what is the reason for their fainting or what caused it. We are very concerned, however, we want to avoid speculating on the cause at this time,” she said. Review.

Chuene said the school’s board of trustees (SGB) and department officials are looking into the matter. “Learners were sent home early yesterday and classes are currently suspended. Representatives from the SGB and the department will work on a solution to allow teaching and learning to resume, while the department will also bring in psychosocial experts,” she explained.
